Shlok 2

II Raghuveer Samarth II

Lets go through second Shlok today. Its as follows:

Mana Sajjana Bhakti Panthechi Jawe I

Tari Shrihari Pawijeto Swabhawe II

Jani Nindya Te Sarwa Sodoni Dyawe I

Jani Wandya Te Sarva Bhave Karawe II

Sadguru Samarth Ramdas Swami teaches us to guide our mind with generic Dos and Donts here. It is very important to note that the mind (Mana) is used with adjective Gentle (Sajjana). That means originally the state of mind of a human is gentle, streight forward, simple and true. If it is not directed with right Dos and prevented from Donts, it may loose its status of being gentle (Sajjana). In order to maintain this state of mind it is advised to direct our mind in the path of prayer (Bhakti Panth). And of course prayer (Bhakti) towards Lord Shriram.

The result of this direction of Bhakti to our mind is explained in second line of this Shlok. i.e. If we direct our mind in the path of prayer (Bhakti) we shall obviously get to the Lord (Shrihari). These are two simple lines that have great capability of changing one's life from within and for a noble cause.

Now to achieve this consistently and while being in inevitable public/social life another two lines speak simple rule of thumb. Third line tells that train our mind to avoid/prevent/resist/refrain from those things which are identified as BAD by the (Indian) society. And finally on the other hand, fourth line tells that accept/practise/remain with those things which are idnetified as GOOD by the (Indian) society.

Mentioning "(Indian)" as prefix to society has an intention. In India, series of Saints have guided and offerred virtues of Indian Phylosophy in simple notes in order to keep Indian people and Indian society thereby on right track that endevors the Lord. These great saints of India have embibed GOOD and BAD (Saar & Asar) into social psycho to keep a positive drive and balance in human being. Thus those characteristics identified by Indian Society are expected here. We many a times find that values of Indian Soceity are not same with the other ones.

I shall cut short this subject here as this is not the aim of the blog and summarise the meaning of Shlok that one should continously pray the Lord and that he should select from dos and donts for his own based on its social impact and acceptance.

May Samarth Ramdas Swami gives us with the strength to follow the said path.

II Jai Jai Raghuveer Samarth II

Thank you for explaining the meaning of the Shlok. We were having an issue in understanding the meaning of the second line. You explained it very well. Thank you again.
